Young Bobcat on display when Salato Center opens 1 Mar 2016

The Kentucky Fish & Wildlife's Salato Center, 1 Game Farm Road, Frankfort, KY, off US 60. A bronze deer statue is near the entrance of the KF&W's main wildlife campus. Open 8am-4pmCT/9am-5pmET Tue-Fri; 9am-5pm Sat. The Center is closed Sundays, Mondays, State Holidays. Regular admission: Adults $4. $2 for 5-18 year olds. Under 5, Free. The Center is named for late Columbia physician Dr. James C. Salato.

The Kentucky Fish & Wildlife has announces that the Salato Wildlife Education Center, Frankfort, will reopen on March 1, 2016.

The center displays native species of Kentucky, including, according to Kentucky's Department of Fish and Wildlife including various exhibits of snakes, turtles, frogs and fish - and learn more about them with a free audio tour.



Larger animals can be views along the outside exhibit trail: black bear, deer, bison, an eagle, turkey, elk and more. There are even bobcats to see for the true blue Kentucky fan, according to the department. The center's newest addition, a young bobcat, will be on display in the bobcat exhibit daily from 9am-1pmCT/10am-2pmCT, barring unforeseen circumstances. Visitors are encouraged to call the center before visiting to confirm that the bobcat will be on exhibit. The phone number is 502-564-7863.

There will be a chance to get a closer look at a Meet-A-Critter event happening from 1:30pm-2:30pmCT/2:30pm-3:30pmET, Saturday, March 5. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on interaction with snakes and turtles. A groundhog and larger birds of prey will also be out for viewing. No registration is required for this event and all activities are included with general admission.
