Jane Potts: Wet/Dry is an economic decision

Don't mix religion into this argument, writer says in this Personal Commentary

By Jane Potts

I support and encourage the citizens of Adair County to vote for the legal sales of alcohol in the upcoming local option election and I implore all to exercise their vote and to bring true progress to Adair County based on five major points: economy, family oriented values, business incentives and investments, as well as community building and leadership throughout.

First, but most of all the economy should be the main focus of this argument and debate. To reiterate, this is an economical and practical argument, not a religious or moral conviction being a devout Christian, but I will not argue with those who attempt to mislead and manipulate others or the media with false claims, inaccurate and feasible interpretations, and personal attacks. There is both freedom of speech and freedom of religion in our Constitution and both often clash between most people and on a day to day basis.

Thus, don't mix religion into this argument, despite your freedom to express those beliefs and as a justification for not supporting and opposing the law. We are not going to argue religion as there are just too many interpretations and belief systems amongst our citizens and churches of Adair County. We as the PAC committee are NOT here to argue religion and it has no place in the larger community despite the "BIBLE BELT" effect predominant in this community and most of Lake Cumberland. --Jane Potts
