Michael Regan: Commentary on Wet/Dry

By Michael Regan
Personal Commentary

To the citizens of Adair County:

I don't have a high tower or busy corner venue to express my thoughts on a banner that voices my negative opinion of a wet Adair County. What I have are the tiny, red words written in the Bible that carry the power of the universe; from the mouth of our Creator, Jesus Christ. "What is bound on earth, so, too is bound in Heaven". Can you see a bar in Heaven?!

What is described as "prosperity" in man's conscience, may be exactly the opposite of what God considers such. We are told NOT to rely on our own musings, but to rely on His commandments and guidance. What type of prosperity are the "yes'ers" striving for? In a word...money. Money does not guarantee happiness or quality of life. RE; Las Vegas;drugs, prostitution, addiction.

If one's heart feels that adding such an addictive force to our community is a plus, then, I suggest we mark the day of their victory at the polls; should that occur; and 5 or 10 years hence, we all turn our heads around to see the clutter, the anguish, the blood on the highways, the broken homes and the broken hearts we've opened that dark door to.

Have not you been at peace raising your children in this serene and God-fearing community? If the door is opened, the storm will come in. Please vote a resounding, Big Sign "No!"

Thank you and may God bless Adair County and the U.S.A.

Sincerely, Michael Regan Columbia
