KYTC District 8 crews treating roads, conditions deteriorating

By Amber Hale, Public Information Officer
KYTC District 8: serving the counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Lincoln, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne

SOMERSET, KY - (1:28pmCT; Sun 14 Feb 2016) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 8 highway crews are on the road this Valentine's Day treating routes as another round of winter weather has moved into the area.

As anticipated the steady snow fall has caused routes to become covered quickly and travel conditions are rapidly deteriorating. Motorists need to allow extra time and use caution if traveling. Please slowdown and allow extra space between vehicles.

When winter precipitation starts to fall, road crews focus on interstates, parkways and other high volume roadways first. Secondary and rural roads will be salted and plowed once the main routes have been cleared.

Road condition updates are available by calling 511 or by logging onto the 511 traffic and travel information website, 511.ky.gov

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 8 is responsible for maintaining approximately 5,209 lanes miles throughout Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne counties.
