Dewey Knight, Ballard Co., KY (1922-206)

He was a member of First Baptist Church of LaCenter, KY He was a World War II Veteran where he served in the Army in the South Pacific. He was a member of Iron Workers Local Union # 782 from 1951 to 1984 when he retired. He served on the Iron Workers Executive Board for many years. He was also a lifetime member of Antioch Masonic Lodge # 332 and was a past Commander for the American Legion LaCenter Post. Dewey was very passionate about clocks, he enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks of all kinds, he also loved antiques of all sorts. He was the father of Susan Minton, and grandfather of Brandon Minton, Columbia, KY. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Knight. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Dewey Knight, age 93, died at 11:15amCT, Monday morning, February 8, 2016, at Life Care in LaCenter, KY.

Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday evening, 10 Feb 2016, at Morrow Funeral Chapel, 376 W Kentucky Drive, LaCenter, KY Masonic Service at 7pmCT, Wednesday. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1pmCT, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY with the Rev. Mark Sickling and Rev. Don Pippin officiating. Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery.

He was born March 1, 1922. He was died Monday, February 8, 2016, in LaCenter, Ballard County, KY, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 7 days.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Knight of LaCenter, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Susan Minton of Columbia, KY, and Denise Knight of Kevil, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Matt Minton and his wife Michelle of Sweeden, KY; Brandon Minton and his wife MacKenzie of Columbia, KY; and and Kaleena Dowdy of Kevil, KY

  • Five great grandchildren: Jaxon Minton, Branson Minton, Bryson Minton, Collyn Dowdy and Keaton Dowdy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Tula Ann Knight.
