District 8 Road Condition Update - 5amCT/6amET 'Allow yourself extra time today to reach your destination and always be prepared to expect the unexpected. By Amber Hale, Public Information Officer KYTC District 8, serving the counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Lincoln, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne SOMERSET, KY (Tue 9 Feb 2016) - District 8 road crews continue to treat roadways this morning reporting routes ranging from mostly wet to covered pavement throughout the District. Crews are reporting that our higher priority A routes, including I-75 and the Cumberland Parkway are mostly wet with some areas that remain partially covered causing slick and hazardous driving conditions. Secondary B and C routes are also being treated with these routes ranging from partly covered to completely covered in some areas. Allow yourself extra time today to reach your destination and always be prepared to expect the unexpected. While the route your traveling may appear to be wet there remains areas of coverage and black ice on all routes. If traveling, motorists should take it slow, wear seat belts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and use caution on bridges, exit ramps and shaded valleys as those areas are often more prone to icing.
