Mystery Photo identified: Hilltop Road, Liberty, KY

1st was Joe B. McKinley's answer at 11:08amCT and then 32 minutes later, Shannon Sexton's answer, the same street by another name, over 65 guesses received. And, we found it goes by at least four names.
By Ed Waggener

Alan Reed grew up less than a mile away on Taylor Street in Liberty, KY, from the Mystery Photo picture and didn't recognize were it was when he first glanced at it, he said today when he was called as an Adair Countian who would serve as an authority: We wanted to know if "The Old Water Tank Hill Road in Liberty" would be the same as "Hilltop Road," and the same as Liberty's sign "Hilltop Drive" and he said it was, to the best of his knowledge, he said. His directions were to take KY Hwy 49 up the hill past Bartle Funeral Home but take the double right at the top of the hill, which was the path Linda had chosen, rather than journey on to Bradfordsville on 49.

  • Joe B McKinley wrote (at 11:08amCT, 5 Feb 2016:
"The Old Water Tank Hill Road in Liberty. "
and Alan Reed says thats the name he remembers for the familiar hill which left it's mark on him - mostly non-life threatening ones, of bloody noses and abrasions from numerous bicyle and sledding accidents on the hill.

  • Then Shannon Sexton wrote (at 11:40amCT, 5 Feb 2016):
    "Hilltop Road - Liberty, KY"
(name for the road on Google Maps
It was a second guess for Shannon, and, she said, it was after seeing Linda's Photo Clue No. 64730

And thus brings the Mystery Phase of the Puzzle to somewhat of an end, or a hiatus: Everyone now knows where it is, but we expect - or at least hope for, more discussion on the matter.

At CM, it was a first for the number of clues given to narrow down the location. We hope is has been fun, and that those who didn't participate will have found that we kept up, pretty well on other news of the day. -- Ed

Continued comments - though future answers, especially anecdotes and memories of the roadway, are welcome. We likely won't be able to post future Answers however.

Where is it? Steep, snowy, curvy hill roadway

2016-02-03 - ????? - Photo By Linda Waggener, CM photo.
It looks like dozens of downhill roadway scenes in the 7-County area. There are similar scenes in Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties. But this scene is in only one of those counties, in only one place. From the condition of the guardrail, it appears to have many stories it could tell, if roads could talk. If you know where it is, reply using the "Comments" button with this picture. Give the name or CR number of the byway, and, if you care to do so, share a story or two or more about it. - CM

CLUE #2 - still looking for correct answer to Photo Mystery

2016-02-05 - ?????? Still searching for the mystery location, this photo is a clue - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Out of sincere contrition for the fiendishly difficult where is it photo, we're posting a second photo from the curve (seen just starting in the original photo), this one goes on down and around the bend of that curve. Where the trees have been removed for the electrical wires some buildings and red rooftops can be seen -- big clues. At 9:36amCT, today, February 5, 2016, we will begin posting all the previously as yet unposted answers, then posting at least the first correct answer which includes the name of the street or county road. -- EW

Mystery Roadway: Hilltop Drive at foot of hill in Liberty, KY

2016-02-06 - Liberty, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo.
At the foot of the Hill of the "Steep snowy curvy hill roadway" there is this sign. Higher up the Hill, Google Map and others call it "Hilltop Road." Joe B. McKinley said the Mystery Picture was on the "Old Water Tower Road," Liberty, KY, and that is the name many Liberty residents know it by. A few minutes after his correct answer was received, Shannon Sexton identified the mystery scene as being on "Hilltop Road," Liberty, KY.
