Gov. Bevin appoints Greg Thomas as Deputy Sec'y of Transportation Cabinet

FRANKFORT, KY (Tue 2 Feb 2016) - Governor Matt Bevin today announced the appointment of Greg Thomas as Deputy Secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Thomas has worked for LG&E and KU Energy LLC for more than 25 years.

"I am thrilled to have Greg Thomas joining the Transportation Cabinet as Deputy Secretary," said Gov. Bevin. "His extensive private sector experience in providing statewide services and managing large budgets will be extremely beneficial for the Transportation Cabinet."



"After many years in the private sector, I look forward to serving the citizens of the Commonwealth and working with the talented people in the Transportation Cabinet," said Thomas.

Having spent most of his career in Lexington and Louisville, Thomas most recently served as Vice President of Electric Distribution for LG&E and KU Energy LLC in Louisville. There, he led and directed all statewide electric distribution operations and provided oversight for more than 700 employees and 1,000 contractors delivering quality electric service to 943,000 customers.

In this role, Thomas also set the strategic direction for electric distribution operations, including investment planning, budgeting and prudent management of a $250 million operating and capital annual budget.

Thomas received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Thomas and his wife, LuAnn, live in Louisville, KY They have two children.
