Mrs. Mary Ellen (Goode) Dickens, Taylor Co., KY (1945-2016)

She was a homemaker and housewife to the late Billy Dickens, who preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Dickens professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late Nellie Hoosier Goode and thelate John Goode, and the widow of Billy Dickens. She leaves 31 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Mary Ellen (Goode) Dickens, 70, departed this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Dickens on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1pmCT/2pmET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Jim Collison will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26, from 11amCT. until time for the service.

Mrs. Mary Ellen (Goode) Dickens was born in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, on November 8, 1945 to Nellie (Hoosier) Goode and the late John Goode. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY, at the 70 years, 2 months, and 12 days of age.

She was a homemaker and housewife to the late Billy Dickens, who preceded her in death in 2010. Mrs. Dickens professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves to cherish her memory:
  • Five children: Ricky Gabehart and fiance Mary Wesley of Campbellsville, KY; Marie Daugherty and husband Bill of Bardstown, KY; David Ford, Susan Reardon, and Billy Dickens, Jr. all of Greensburg, KY

  • Three siblings: Lanis Goode of Campbellsville, KY; Maxine Blankenship of Greensburg, KY; and Patty Sullivan of Lebanon, KY

  • Seventeen grandchildren

  • Nine great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other family and friends
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to the funeral expenses. Those made be made online, or in person at the funeral home.
