KYTC District 8 Roads update, Sun 24 Jan 2016, 12pmET With sunshine, I-75, Cumberland Parkway cleared. Now focus is on US 27,US 127, KY 80, KY 90. Earlier advice stands: If you don't need to travel, please don't KYTC District 8 serves Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne Counties By Amber Hale, Public Information Officer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8, Somerset, KY SOMERSET, KY (SUN 24 Jan 2016 at 11amCT/12pmET) - Interstate 75 and the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway have been cleared but other major routes such as US 27, US 127, KY 80, and KY 90 are still the focus in our region. Crews are reporting that these A priority routes are improving with partial to complete coverage in some locations. Salt is being applied to these routes and with the aid of the sunshine melting should occur creating slush covered routes making it easier for plow removal. All B and C priority routes still remain covered and some counties are beginning to treat B routes at this hour. We continue to ask motorists that if you do not need to travel please don't. If you must be out take it slow, roads may appear clear but just ahead they could still be snow covered. We recognize that many are taking this advice which has helped our crews to treat routes more efficiently. Dial 511 or go online at www.511.ky.gov for the latest traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth.
