Travel - Road Conditions: 9amCT Update District 4 Green, Hart, LaRue, Marion and Taylor still have covered secondary routes and many primary routes are still very spotty. Interstate 65 and Western KY, Bluegrass Parkways are in decent shape. District 4 Elizabethtown, KY - Breckinridge, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, & Washington Counties By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY Snow and ice teams plowed snow as much as possible into Saturday evening. With frigid temperatures, chemical treatments were not possible overnight. Crews are back out this morning treating and plowing. Favorable sunshine and rising temperatures should allow another day of great improvements, especially on secondary routes. Interstate 65, our parkways and most US highways are in decent shape. As mentioned in previous updates, southern and eastern counties are still behind progress of the rest of the district due to greater snow depths and more packing on roads. There is a thick layer of solid ice to break up at the bottom. A plow usually scoots right over this layer. It must be treated and broken up before a snow plow will "bite" enough to push it aside. Green, Hart, LaRue, Marion and Taylor still have covered secondary routes and many primary routes are still very spotty. Please continue being patient with our crews.
