Travel Advice today remains: 'We continue to ask motorists that if you do not need to travel please don't.' - AMBER HALE. KYTC District 8 serves Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne Counties By Amber Hale, Public Information Officer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8, Somerset, KY SOMERSET, KY (SUN 24 Jan 2016 at 5amCT/6amET) - District 8 road crews are entering day number three in their battle with the latest winter storm that moved into our region early Friday morning. With snowfall moving out of the area on Saturday, a little sunshine and lower traffic volumes road conditions are slowly improving. Crews remain plowing across the District with focus continuing to be on A priority routes. Rockcastle County is reporting that I-75 is cleared and Adair, Pulaski and Russell Counties report that one lane is cleared in both directions on the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway while the second lane remains partially covered. All counties continue to report B and C routes as covered. To learn more about our priority routes please visit transportation.ky.gov/Maintenance/Pages/Snow-and-Ice-Priority-Maps We continue to ask motorists that if you do not need to travel please don't. We recognize that many are taking this advice which has helped our crews to treat routes more efficiently. We ask for your continued patience as crews work to clear the highways, it is going to take our crews time to clear all state maintained routes. If you must travel we want to remind you to treat every road as possibly slick and hazardous, while routes have been reported clear and others are showing improvements low temperatures may result in refreezing and drifting snow can recover roads in minutes after being plowed.
