Despite two snows days, life goes on at Lindsey Wilson College

Several photos with full story

By Duane Bonifer

It has been a delayed start to the 2016 spring semester at Lindsey Wilson College. The semester officially began Wednesday, January 20, 2016 but only a handful of classes have been held because of the first winter storm of the season.

Classes were canceled on Wednesday, delayed on Thursday, then canceled again on Friday. Although classes were called off on two days, the college remained open both days for the more than 1,000 students who live on the A.P. White Campus.

Physical Plant Operations staff worked overtime to clear sidewalks, driveways and parking lots, as well as to respond to weather-related campus emergencies along with members of LWC's Public Safety and Security Office. The staff of the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center made sure students were served three meals each day, and the staff and student workers of the Doris and Bob Holloway Center kept the 73,000-square-foot recreation building operating during its regular hours.

LWC's residential students made the most of the extended winter break by holding a snowman-building contest and using several of the campus hills for sledding.

The college plans to resume the spring semester on Monday, January 26, 2017.
