CMS sixth-grade basketball team runner up in CKMSAC tourney

Campbellsville Middle School sixth-grade boys’ basketball team won second place in the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Casey County.

In the first game, CMS defeated Metcalfe County by a score of 45-43.



Fifth-grader Deondre’ Weathers led the team with 11 points. Fifth-graders Kaden Smith and Chase Hord each had 10 points.

In the second game, CMS lost to Casey County by a score of 18-48.

Sixth-grader Bryson Karr led the CMS squad with five points.

In the third game, CMS defeated Taylor County by a score of 45-44.

Karr led with 13 points and Smith had 11.

And in the championship game, Casey County defeated CMS by a score of 17-50.

Fifth-grader Gavin Oliver led with five points.

Lynn Kearney coaches the sixth- and seventh-grade teams and Joseph “Bugg” Taylor is eighth-grade head coach. CMS sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade teams will play in Washington County on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The CMS sixth-grade team will host the Eagle Classic Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23 and 24.
