Mayor: Brandon Burns has good idea; KY law has another Comments re article 80267 Brandon Burns Use alcohol tax money to pay off hospital debt Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick called and commented on the suggestion that Brandon Burns made to earmark alcoholic beverage taxes for the hospital debt. "It's a good idea," he said, "but Kentucky law simply doesn't permit it. All the income from alcohol tax is restricted to designated areas, including law enforcement." While on the line he commented on Columbia's City Streets. "They are not as good as we'd like to see them, but the street department is working as hard as they can to get them in shape."
