Mrs. Ada Thompson Lewis, Summersville, KY (1921-2016)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, babysitter, and had been employed with American Tobacco Company and The Noodle Factory both located in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Herbert Thompson and Clora Warren Thompson and the widow of Leonard Lewis, her husband of 62 years. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Mrs. Ada Thompson Lewis, 94, of Summersville, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral for Mrs. Ada Thompson Lewis will be conducted at 1pmCT, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. J.W. Bennett, Bro. Jerry Lane Judd, and Bro. Al Hardy will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Trent Judd, Roger Skaggs, Rual Neagle, Steve Stearman, Mark Chaudoin, John Morris, and Morris Dobson.

Honorary pallbearers: Bobby McCubbin, Ranny Milby, Gary Larimore, Bobby Scott, Darrell Thompson, Michael Milby, Timmy Marr, and Larry Skaggs.

Mrs. Ada Thompson Lewis of Summersville, Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Herbert Thompson and Clora Warren Thompson, was born on October 5, 1921 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 94 years, three months, and five days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, babysitter, and had been employed with American Tobacco Company and The Noodle Factory both located in Louisville, Kentucky. She united in marriage to Leonard Lewis on July 4, 1941 who preceded her in death on October 19, 2003. Survivors include:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Rita and Roger Skaggs of Summersville, KY

  • A granddaughter and her husband: Brittany and Trent Judd of Summersville, KY

  • Two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Ray Thompson, Walter John and Allene Thompson all of Hodgenville, KY; and Jean Thompson of Buffalo, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Melvin Russell Thompson, Homer Thompson, Irene Metcalfe, and Darlene Davis.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
