Evelyn Burton, 85, Adair County, KY (1930-2016)

She was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family, the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar and Nancy Grant Edrington, and the widow of Rufus Burton. Mrs. Evelyn Edrington Burton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Evelyn Burton, 85, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at 10:30amCT at her home surrounded by loved ones.

The funeral service for Evelyn Burton will be at 10amCT, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, with the pastor, Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will begin after 4pmCT on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY and after 7amCT until the time of the funeral service, Tuesday at the church.



Evelyn Burton, 85, Adair County, KY (1930-2016)

She was born July 2, 1930 in Cane Valley, Adair County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Oscar and Nancy Grant Edrington. She died Friday, January 1, 2016 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 85 years, five months, and 30 days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Burton, a daughter Glenna Mann; two brothers Owen & Russell Edrington; and a sister Rachel Wilson. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters:Cathy (Harold) Lawless and Sherry (Tommy) Cook all of Columbia

  • Two sons: Roger (Lisa) Burton of Vine Grove and Freddie Burton of Columbia, KY.

  • One brother: Ray Edrington of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister: Inez Powell of Coburg, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren: Jackie Phillips, Brent (Karen) Anderson, Tara (Timmy) Franklin, Tina Cook, Pamela (Gary) Helm, Carolyn (Wade) Breeding, Teresa (Dwayne) Hargis, Anita (Bobby) Webster, Marsha (Terry) Popplewell, Donald Burton, Anna Alley, Joey Burton

  • Several loving great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren
Memorials are suggested to either Gideon Bibles or the JOY Group at Trinity which may be left at the funeral home or church.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
