Mrs. Vennie May (Griffin) Murray, 95, (d. 31 Dec 2016)

Mrs. Vennie May (Griffin) Murray, age 95, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the Clinton County Hospital, Albany.

Funeral service for Mrs. Vennie May (Griffin) Murray will be conducted Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 2pmCT, at Campbell-New Funeral Home, 115 Cross Street, Albany, KY, with Pastor Donald McGill officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Funeral Home, with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 7pmCT.



She was the daughter of William Lee and Myrtle (Means) Griffin.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Murray, four brothers, John Griffin, Willie Griffin, Wendell Griffin, and Dewey Willen, two sisters, Jessie Griffin and Jenny Cross, a grandson, Ricky Murray and a great-grandson, Ricky Murray, Jr.

She is survived by the following:
  • A son: Otis (and Evelyn) Murray of Albany, Kentucky

  • A daughter: Janis Abbott of Jamestown, Kentucky

  • Three sisters: Bessie Tapley of New Castle, Indiana; Ruby Curtiss of Richmond, Indiana; and Collen Cross of Muldraugh, Kentucky

  • Four grandchildren: Brenda Vincent, Gary Webb, Judy Hachey and Don McClure

  • Six great-grandchildren: Danielle Hachey, Brook Hachey, Alison Spencer, Jade McClure, Jarod Webb, and Travis Vincent

  • Two great-great-grandchildren: Tanner and Ashley Webb. Campbell-New Funeral Home, 115 Cross Street, Albany, Kentucky in charge of Arrangements.

    Send condolences to the family of Mrs. Vennie May Murray In Lieu of flowers contributions to Caney Branch Baptist Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
