Donnie Joe Parnell, 66, Adair Co., KY (1949-2015)

He a member of a large, respected Western Adair County, KY family. He was a farmer and attended Maple Hill United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Demmon and Annie Edwards Parnell and the widower of Joyce Edwards Parnell. He leaves five direct and one step living descendants.

Donnie Joe Parnell, 66, of the Keltner community of Adair County, KY, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home.

Funeral service will be Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Herbert Janes, Bro. Timmy Glass, and Sister Rita Houk officiating. Burial in the Parnell Family Cemetery, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT, Sunday, December 20, 2015.


Donnie Joe Parnell, 66, Adair Co., KY (1949-2015)


He was born December 9, 1949. He was the son of the late Demmon and Annie Edwards Parnell. He died Friday, December 18, 2015, in Keltner, Adair County, KY, at the age of 66 years, nine days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Edwards Parnell; a son; Jackie Parnell, and a step-son; Steve Chapman.

Donnie attended Maple Hill United Methodist Church and was a farmer.

Survivors include:
  • One step-son: Kenny Chapman of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: James Parnell of Edmonton, Leon Parnell of Center, Jimmy Parnell of Columbia, KY

  • Six sisters: Lucille Oaks and Linda Patterson both of Greensburg, KY; Ethel Wallace and Doris Gilpin both of Horse Cave, KY; and Violet Spoon and Becky Parnell both of Columbia, KY
  • Five grandchildren: Jordan Parnell (Donnie's special grandson), Tyler Chapman, and Breanna, Jacob and Alexis Parnell

  • Several other relatives and friends
