He was the son of the late Robert & Geneva Simpkins Blackburn. He leaves five siblings, 35 nieces and nephews, and one very special friend to mourn his passing

Michael Wayne Blackburn, age 54 of Summer Shade, KY, died December 10, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services were Saturday December 12, 2015 at 3pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road. Visitation was Saturday from 11amCT until Funeral time of 3pmCT. Burial is in the Summer Shade Cemetery, Summer Shade, KY.


Michael Blackburn, 54, Summer Shade, KY (1961-2015)

Born August 14, 1961 in Chicago, Cook County, IL, he was the son of the late Robert and Geneva Simpkins Blackburn. He died December 10, 2015, in Summer Shade, KY, at the age of 54 years, three months, and 26 days.

He was a nurse and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the Army.

Survivors are the following:
  • Two sisters: Rhonda (Chris) Allen of Central City, KY; and Margaret Banks of Georgia

  • Three brothers: Terry Blackburn of Central City, KY; and Donnie and Randy Blackburn of Chicago

  • One very special friend: David Young

  • and 35 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one brother, Bobby Banjo Blackburn.
