Thursday, December 10, 2015, was an exciting day at Adair County Middle School. They held their annual AMCS Idol Contest.

There are a total of 14 individuals hoping to be the next idol. Contestants included Elizabeth Bair, Alexis Burton, Emma Rich, Billy Salmon, Moran Spoon, Emma Grider, Hazel White, Mary Kellogg, Madison Stotts, Machenzie Bennett, Autumn Reynolds, Jazmin Hernanadez, Emily Farmer, and Jayson Owens.

Voting is conducted by a penny a vote and is open until next week. The contestant's performances where wonderful and enjoyed by all those who attended the event.

Students were also entertained during the intermission by a performance from Zander Bolin playing his electric guitar which was an unforgettable high point of the contest.

I will say I was highly impressed with the courage and talents of all these students. We will keep everyone posted on the outcome next week.

There is no doubt it will be a close vote with such talented students participating this year. And, remember, being a leader means taking risks and believing in one's self. This group of students proved once again we are creating leaders everyday! - Shamarie Harper, the write/photographer for this story, is Media Coordinator for the Adair County School District, Columbia, KY
