Von Flatt Price: Praise for life time friend Orvis Grider

She remembers days at Pleasant Hill School, at the intersection of KY 92 and KY 768, and her brother's best friend, Orvis Grider, the tallest guy she had ever seen at the time, until she saw Bill Dudley. Warm memories of growing up near Montpelier, KY

By Von Price

I have to say I just could not let this pass without telling you how long I have known Orvis Grider, and let everyone back in Adair County know what a great friend and a very long time Family friend he is.

First of all, I have known Orvis my entire life and that would be 69 years.

He was one of my brother's best friends. All of us went to Pleasant Hill Grade school.

I remember taking my Mom to Houchens and there was Orvis as the Manager.

Anytime any of my family passed away, Orvis was always there to pay his respects.

He is just one of the nicest, most pleasant men any one would ever meet. Anyone one who knows him would totally agree with me.

It does not surprise me that he would be there to drive the Veterans.

I want to wish him and all the Veterans a wonderful and a very Merry Christmas and thank them for their service and thank all those who are still protecting us from harm.

Orvis knows all of my family. I can remember when I was just a grade school kid I thought he was the tallest guy I would ever know.

That was until anyone would meet Mr. Bill Dudley. That's another story maybe one day we can talk about. BTW - I really like the wonderful smile on Linda's face. What a beautiful and happy face.

Thank you for letting me tell you my fond memories of a childhood family friend.
