N Greensburg Precinct, Green County votes to go wet by 1 vote Second precinct in Greensburg votes to allow legal sales of alcoholic beverages Click on headline for complete story By Larry Smith, Operations Manager, The Big Dawg, FM 99.9 GREENSBURG, KY (Tue 8 Dec 2015 at 7:46pmCT) - The votes were counted three times tonight, Tuesday, December 8, 2015, in the County Court Clerk's Office at the Green County Court house in Greensburg, and voters in the North Greensburg Precinct, which includes the Green County Country Club, have voted by a one vote majority to go wet. The count, all three times, was 132 to 131. The ballot question was a simple one: Are you in favor of alcoholic beverage sales in the North Greensburg precinct of Green County? with two options, "Yes," or "No." North Greensburg Precinct is the second to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic sales were voted in earlier in South Greensburg Precinct, but only for sales in historic buildings, and qualifies the old hotel building, not yet renovated, for alcoholic sales. Sheriff Robby Beard and County Court Clerk Billy Joe Lowe did the actual vote counting with members of the Green County Board of Elections Present. Legal sales of alcoholic beverages votes are becoming much more frequent. On Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Russell County will have a full blown wet-dry election, countywide. In Columbia, a group with the acronym PAC, for PROGRESS in ADAIR COUNTY, is working to get a vote early in 2016 for the City of Columbia to be wet for alcoholic beverage sales.
