Adair County Hospital District Trustees: Negotiations ongoing There is progress. Settlement might be reached as early as December 18, 2015. Details of the final cost to taxpayers of Adair County and length of time hospital tax will be imposed still not known. CEO announces Special Session Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week; mediation meeting in Louisville on Friday, December 11, 2015, and session in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on December 18, 2015, at which time a final ruling in the case could come. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Ed Waggener The Special Called Meeting of the Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees ended with an announcement that there was no action taken in Executive Session and no announcement would be made. However, as Chairman Richard Grant asked for a motion to adjourn, Trustee Sharon Burton asked if there couldn't be a discussion and CEO Neal Gold responded with a bit more about plans going forward, but still, no details about the financial consequences the county faces as a result of a final ruling from the bankruptcy judge in the Chapter 9 proceedings. This much did come out of the discussion: - 1) There will be special sessions of the Adair County Hospital District trustees on December 8, 9, and 10, this week for the board to continue negotiating this week.Mr. Gold said that the U.S. Bankruptcy may use as "cram down," with a directed settlement, but that it would be more likely that the ruling would have further litigation ensuing if a mediated settlement between the Adair County Hospital District and the creditors is not reached first. The questions still not answered for Adair Countians is how much the tax rate will be for the hospital district and how long the tax will be imposed. A potential buyer for the hospital, TJ Samson of Glasgow, KY, has been found, and, part of the sale agreement is that they would continue to operate Westlake Regional as a hospital. Present at today's meeting were Adair County Hospital Board Chairman Richard Grant and members Sharon Burton, Bruce White, and Brad Keltner; CEO Neal Gold and CFO David Hayes; Adair County Judge Executive Mike Stephens, and members of the media.
