Governor-Elect Bevin names Chad Meredith Deputy General Counsel By Jessica Ditto News from Gov.-Elect Matt Bevin's Transition Team Frankfort, KY (Fri 27 Nov 2015) - Today, Governor-Elect Bevin's transition team announced that attorney Chad Meredith will serve as Deputy General Counsel in the Governor's Office. "We are excited to announce Chad Meredith as the Governor's Deputy General Counsel," said General Counsel Steve Pitt. "Chad is an impressive lawyer with the rare distinction of work experience in both United States district and circuit courts. He will do an excellent job in service to the Commonwealth." "I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve Governor Bevin and the people of Kentucky," said Meredith. "Governor Bevin has assembled a phenomenal team, and I am thrilled to join it. I look forward to helping the Governor implement his vision for the Commonwealth." A native of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Meredith, 34, has had a distinguished legal career. He earned a B.A. from Washington and Lee University and received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was a recipient of the Bert Combs Scholarship. Chad is one of the few lawyers in Kentucky to have clerked for both a United States district judge and a United States circuit judge. Chad began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge John M. Rogers on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. After his clerkship with Judge Rogers, Chad then clerked for Judge Amul R. Thapar on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Following his clerkships, Chad entered private practice with the law firm of Frost Brown Todd, LLC, in Louisville, Kentucky, where he practiced litigation until joining Ransdell & Roach of Lexington. Meredith has received a number of professional accolades including AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and he was named by peers to the Kentucky Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. Meredith presently serves as Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, and from 2013-2014 served as Chairman-elect. He is a member of the Central Kentucky American Inn of Court. He also serves on the Kentucky Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.
