By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 3, Elizabethtown, KY

(9:30amET Update) One lane is now open. The mandatory detour has been discontinued.

However, environmental cleanup will require one lane to remain closed for the next couple of hours.

Traffic volume will remain heavy along the northbound stretch of I65 approaching Elizabethtown.

US 31W will also remain congested over the next couple of hours.

Currently, northbound I65 is backed up from Exit 86 to Exit 81 due to the crash at mile marker 88. Motorist are being detoured at Exit 86. US 31W is backed up from Elizabethtown to Glendale. Local traffic is urged to take an alternate route into and away from the Elizabethtown area.

We are anticipating the scene being cleared within the next hour.
