She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church. She was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Laten & Mary Lee Roy McFarland, and the widow of Arlo Meece.

Myra Jean Meece, 90, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. Funeral services for Myra Jean Meecewill be 10amCT, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Elder Paul Roy and Elder Jason Shanks officiating. Visitation after 5pmCT, Friday, October 30, 2015. Interment in the Cedar Springs Cemetery. Special Music will be rendered by Janice Popplewell, Amy Ballenger, and Robin Riddle.



Pallbearers: Kevin Blair, Scott Meece, Timmy Meece, Jeff Meece, Greg Meece, and Ryan Meece.

She was born August 28, 1925 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Laten & Mary Lee Roy McFarland. She died Tuesday, October 27, 2015, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 90 years, two months, and one day.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded inn death by her husband, Arlo Meece; five brothers, Chesley McFarland, Earl McFarland, Leslie McFarland, Roy McFarland, and Garley McFarland; and three sisters, Edra Wade, Maisy Emerson, and Marcia Roy.

Survivors include the following:
  • Four children: Phyllis Blair (Paul) Roy, Russell Springs, KY; Richard (Sharon) Meece, Pilot Point, TX; Michael (Joyce) Meece, Festus, MO, and Douglas (Lydia) Meece, Russell Springs, KY

  • A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. These can be made at the funeral home.
