Christine Flatt Coomer, 99, Adair Co., KY (1916-2015)

She was a the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She was the daughter of the late Willie & Bell Jessie Flatt and the widow of Arnold Coomer. She leaves 17 direct living descendants. Mrs. Coomer had professed faith in Christ at a young age and was of the Baptist faith.

Christine Flatt Coomer age 99 years a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 5:25amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY

Funeral services will Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:30 PM CST at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Dr. Bill Scott the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Sparksville Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the funeral home.



Christine Flatt Coomer, 99, Adair Co., KY (1916-2015)


She was born on Saturday, August 7, 1916 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Willie & Bell Jessie Flatt. She died Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 99 years, two months, and 22 days.

She was the widow of Arnold Coomer who preceded in death on Octobert 20, 1993

She was also preceded in death by infant daughter Betty Frances Coomer; one granddaughter Teresia Wilson, in 1958; one son Charles Thomas Coomer in 1957; five brothers, Ira, Noah, Tommy, Delbert & Jessee Flatt, and four sisters, Sada Janes, Vada Gowen, Dorothy League, and Edna Fudge.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Patsy (Bruce) Wilson of Columbia, KY; and Carol (Starriett) Johnson of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: Doug (JoAnn) Coomer of Mt. Washington, KY; and Dwight (Tammy Burton) Coomer of Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Tami Wilson, Rodney Coomer, Chris Wilson, Tina Johnson, Stacy Coomer, and Jason Coomer

  • Five great grandchildren: Simon Wilson, Gracie Wilson, Peyton Christine Coomer, Jacob Coomer and Hannah Coomer

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Coomer had professed faith in Christ at a young age and was of the Baptist faith.
