CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY -- Campbellsville scored 24 points off a season-high four Cumberland University turnovers to win its sixth straight game, 41-21.

The Tigers (6-2) have now won six-straight after losing the first two games of the season. It is the first time since 1991 Campbellsville has won six-straight.

Campbellsville is a perfect 3-0 inside the West Division of the Mid-South Conference and is tied with No. 8 Reinhardt atop the standings after the Eagles beat No. 1 Lindsey Wilson (KY) today, 42-24. The Tigers still have both Lindsey Wilson and Reinhardt on the schedule in the next two weeks (Oct. 31 and Nov. 7, respectively).

The third quarter was the difference maker, as Campbellsville outgained Cumberland 278 yards to 37. The Tigers held possession for almost 11 minutes compared to the Bulldogs' four and also took advantage of two third-quarter turnovers.

Bryson Bell forced his second fumble of the night and TO Smith recovered to give Campbellsville great field position at its own 43. The Tigers took advantage two plays later with Jacob Russell hitting Zerric Willis for a 29-yard touchdown reception.

On the Bulldogs' next possession, Percy Minor picked off Austin Snyder and Campbellsville took advantage again. Russell hit Tyus Alcorn for their third touchdown hook up of the night on a 30-yard TD with 3:11 left in the third quarter.

Russell finished with 404 yards on 29-of-40 passing. He threw four touchdowns - three of those to Alcorn. Alcorn, the reigning MSC Player of the Week, finished with 156 yards just 11 shy of his career-high.

Conor Dunn also finished with 77 yards on five catches followed by Jarrod Harrington's 69 yards on four catches. Harrington is 20 yards away from eclipsing the 2,000 receiving yard mark for his career. Only three Tigers have reached that mark - Rick Gehres, Stan Warrenhuffman and Demytreus Gipson.

Campbellsville held Cumberland to a season-low against NAIA schools. The Tigers allowed only 343 yards with 200 on the ground and 143 through the air. Moses Cornelius led the Bulldogs with 92 yards on 18 rushes and one touchdown. Michael Green led the Bulldogs in the receiving with four catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Minor finished with 10 tackles and the interception to lead Campbellsville. Bell finished just behind with nine tackles, a sack and two fumbles forced.

In the first half, Campbellsville scored 10 points off two turnovers. Will Ward capitalized on a 27-yard field goal after cornerback Marquis Cain picked off Snyder on the Bulldogs' first drive. The interception was the third of the season for Cain.

The Tigers took a 10-0 lead on a fourth down run by AJ Strong. On fourth and two from the Cumberland 13-yard line, Campbellsville gambled and it paid off with Strong's third TD run.

Cumberland answered on its next drive, but it was aided by a busted coverage for the Tiger defense. Snyder found Green wide open in the middle of the field to capitalize with a 43-yard touchdown to cut the Tigers lead to three, 10-7.

After Campbellsville stopped on downs on their next drive, Bryson Bell rocked Snyder in the backfield forcing a fumble. Beau Bill was there to recover and Campbellsville took over on its own 31-yard line.

The Tigers went right down the field and scored off the second Bulldog turnover. Russell found Tyus Alcorn on a 13-yard touchdown pass-and-catch to put Campbellsville ahead, 20-7. The hookup between the two is the 13th of the season and the 14th touchdown catch by Alcorn.

Cumberland answered with a five-play, 62-yard drive touchdown. Campbellsville aided the Bulldogs in the scoring drive, though. Snyder hit Green on a 25-yard pass-and-catch but a late hit gave Cumberland another 15 yards to put the ball on the Tiger 17. Moses Cornelius ran for 16 yards to set up a Snyder 1-yard touchdown run to cut the halftime lead, 20-14. - Jordan Alves is sports information director at Campbellsville University
