Two new ramps onto LBN Pkwy at Russell Springs to open soon Two more ramps scheduled to open next week at the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway interchange in Russell County. Motorists advised to use caution, pay close attention to signage By Amber Hale, Public Information Officer Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8, Somerset, KY Somerset, KY - (Mon 19 Oct 2015) – More changes are coming to the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway interchange in Russell County as two new ramps open to traffic. Crews plan to open the westbound entry ramp on Monday, October 26. Starting next week traffic traveling U.S. 127 wishing to access the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway to travel west toward Columbia will use the newly constructed entry ramp which is located directly across U.S. 127 from the current westbound entry ramp. After the new ramp is opened, traffic traveling northbound U.S. 127 will make a left turn to access the parkway to travel west while traffic traveling southbound U.S. 127 will turn right, exactly opposite of the movements motorist are currently using. Late next week, or possibly the following week, the eastbound exit ramp will also open to traffic. Once opened, eastbound Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway traffic wanting to exit onto U.S. 127 in Russell Springs (Exit 62) will now begin their exit from the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway prior to reaching the U.S. 127 overpass. Traffic traveling the new exit ramp will now be making a left turn for northbound U.S 127 and a right turn for southbound U.S. 127. The new exit ramp will also be in close proximity to the current temporary entry ramp for those entering the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway eastbound toward Somerset which will remain the same at this time. Motorists are advised to use caution and pay close attention to signage throughout the project. The opening of the new ramps may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Motorists are reminded that speed limits are reduced along the Louie B. Nunn/Cumberland Parkway as well as U.S. 127 between mile points 17.1 - 18.1 and the Parkway remains reduced to one lane between mile points 61 - 63 both east and westbound. Expect flaggers and construction personnel to be working in close proximity to traffic flow. Appropriate caution is required. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
