Ashley Miller: Public Thanks to AHA and Ellen Zornes

'A city is just a place until people make it feel like home. From this Adair County transplant, thank you Adair Heritage Association for making Columbia feel more like home.' - Ashley Miller

Personal Commentary

I wanted to take a moment to publicly thank the Adair Heritage Association and Ellen Zornes for sponsoring the Squarecrow competition last week.

It sounds simple - ask the community to make scare crows - but the affect was so much more.

It wasn't just a decorative statement for Downtown Days, but rather a community coming together to celebrate one another.

Each afternoon and evening as I drove home there were people walking through each display, taking pictures, smiling and enjoying our little town.

That's the type of Adair County and City of Columbia I want for my son's childhood.

I want him to feel nostalgic for fun traditions that make our town special and unique.

Who knew scarecrows were all it took for our community to rally together and take pride in the small town lifestyle Columbia has to offer?

A city is just a place until people make it feel like home. From this Adair County transplant, thank you Adair Heritage Association for making Columbia feel more like home. --Ashley Miller
