No. 1 LWC Football hosts C/AC Appreciation Day 17 Oct 2015 By David Gerhart COLUMBIA, KY - For the third week in a row, the Lindsey Wilson College football team is the No 1-ranked team in the NAIA. And this Saturday, 17 Oct 2015, the LWC athletics department will honor the best fans in the NAIA by holding Columbia-Adair County Appreciation Day. Adult Adair County residents can attend Saturday's LWC-Faulkner (AL) University football game for half-price, and Adair County children ages 12 and under can see it for free. Kickoff is 1:30pmCT at Blue Raider Stadium, 828 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The game is also LWC's Mid-South Conference West Division season-opener. "Columbia-Adair County Appreciation Day is just a small way for us to say 'thank you' to our friends and neighbors," Lindsey Wilson Athletics Director Willis Pooler said. "This is a big game for our football team, and it is great to know that they will have the best fans in the NAIA cheering for them on Saturday. "Lindsey Wilson is is fortunate to be located in a community that not only supports the college's mission, but it also supports our student-athletes and the athletics department on a daily basis." Lindsey Wilson enters Saturday's game with a 5-0 record after beating University of the Cumberlands (KY) 41-19 last Saturday. The Blue Raiders retained the top spot in the NAIA national poll for the third straight week -- the longest stay atop the poll for any team this season. No. 18 Faulkner is 3-2 entering the weekend after a 55-27 loss at then-No. 13 Reinhardt (GA) University. After starting the season 3-0 and being ranked as high as No. 3 in the NAIA poll, Faulkner has lost its last two games. This story was posted on 2015-10-13 08:05:56
