Terry M. Dabney, 63, Taylor Co., KY (1952-2015)

He was owner of Parrot & Ramsey Funeral Home, and served as Deputy Coroner and then Chief Coroner of Taylor County. He was also a member of many civic and professional organizations on a Federal, State and Local level.

Terry M. Dabney of Campbellsville, son of the late Walter Maurice Dabney and Catherine Gabehart Dabney, was born July 16, 1952, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:13amET, Thursday, September 24, 2015 in Campbellsville. He was 63 years old.

Visitation will be from 3pm until 9pmET, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave, Campbellsville, KY. The funeral service will be held at 2pmET, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Rev. J. Alvin Hardy, Rev. Jeff Newton, Rev. Mitch Ash and Rev. Dee Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.


Terry Dabney professed faith in Christ and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he served as treasurer.

He began employment at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in 1968, later purchasing the business in 1981, where he served as owner, operator and licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He was elected Deputy Coroner of Taylor County in 1978 and then elected Chief Coroner in 1982 where he continued to serve the citizens of Taylor County with competence and compassion.

He was a member of many civic and professional organizations on a Federal, State and Local level, including the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team/Weapons of Mass Destruction , Member of National Disaster Medical System; Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Kentucky Coroners Association, International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Campbellsville Kiwanis Club, Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F&AM, Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky Medical Examiner Advisory Commission, Board of Directors Taylor County Board of Health, Board of Directors Lake Cumberland District Health Department, and Board of Directors Citizens Bank and Trust Company. He was owner and operator of Parrott-Turner-Dabney Cemetery, a Licensed Life Insurance Agent, Advisor to Board of Directors for Taylor County Chapter of the Dream Factory, Board Member of Taylor County Health Department and Advisor to Kentucky Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Committee. He served as past president of the Kentucky State Coroner's Association, and was awarded numerous awards and honors.

He united in marriage to Judy Newton March 9, 1974.

He is survived by
  • His wife, Judy Dabney of Campbellsville
  • One son and one daughter, Traver Dabney and wife, Kelli of Versailles and Tara Dabney of Chicago;
  • Three granddaughters: Catherine Isabel Dabney, Olivia Brooke Dabney and Scarlet Elizabeth Dabney;
  • His father-in-law and mother-in-law Lynwood and Juanita Newton of Campbellsville
  • Many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Charles Robert Dabney January 8, 1939, Marilyn Elaine Dabney April 8, 1980 and Jane Charlotte Dabney May 4, 1992.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles, Compassionate Friends or Brookside Cemetery. Donations may be made at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
