For Miss Vicky, it's war on the passion flower For farmers, passion flower is more than annoyance - and it scares gentile and gentrified farmers when it makes a loud popping noise when run over by a tractor. Miss Vicky is passionate about the passion flower, advocating it's extinction in agricultural areas, especially the fertile lands in Greater Bliss, where she makes a living managing Miss Vicky's Pampered Angus Ranch. Click on headline for complete story By Victoria Pike It is the pod that grows on the vining purple passion flower that is flourishing in many fields around here. When you run over it with the tractor it makes a loud popping noise and spread large seeds for more next year. This has become widespread in our neighborhood despite all my best efforts. I have sprayed to kill it but with some success. Best thing I think, is to mow the vine before the pod forms. The vine also has a large purple bloom on it. Lately, we are overrun with thistle, and poison hemlock along our roadways that are spreading as the right of ways are mowed and the seeds are carried on up the road. The poor farmer has many challenges these days to face but it still continues to be the best way to earn a living as far as I am concerned.
