George Kolbenschlag: Where are elected officials on school leadership?

Comments re article 77783 Says Alan Reed has brought real change to Adair County

George Kolbenschlag writes:
I know I've already had my say, but the on-going commentary, all of it worthwhile, causes me to ask where are our community's elected leadership, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority on this issue? They should speak up, certainly, in light of the Mr. Reed's contribution to economic development. It reminds me of the old quip credited to a general entering a skirmish with his troops: "There go my soldiers, I am their leader, I must follow them." - George Kolbenschlag
Well stated, George Kolbenschlag As always, your comments are eagerly awaited. Agree with you, community leaders should weigh in now. We're also waiting to hear from teachers, principals, students and former students. From all sides. And, while we're against demonizing the three board members who voted against renewing the progress, and if it is not already apparent, I believe the failure to renew the contract will be looked back on by historians as another time when Adair County almost kept climbing to the top of the pinnacle, but sputtered out before making it. - EW
