Terry Partin: I must speak up

I remind the members of the Adair County School Board that our children and their educational opportunity is the purpose for which the board exists. - TERRY PARTIN

By Terry Partin
Personal commentary

Far to often we accept decisions made by the minority and fail to speak up. I refrain from commenting on items of a petty political nature but on the subject of education and the future of our youth and our community I must voice my great concern.

I challenge the Adair County School Board to examine the status of our local system three years ago and compare it to where we are today.

Certainly there have been changes, but changes were needed.

Yes, money has been allocated to improve the campus but the campus was in desperate need of revitalization and renewal.

Has there been any decline in education or loss of opportunity for our students? The options for educating the youth of our community have been greatly expanded.

I realize that more improvements are needed but I am confident that those improvements can and will be made under current leadership.

I have an interest in education especially education in Adair County. I have grandchildren that desperately need the best education they can possibly obtain.

I remind the members of the Adair County School Board that our children and their educational opportunity is the purpose for which the board exists.
