The Homeplace on Green River Fall Festival, tomorrow Saturday, September 12, 2015, is a big part of Homeplace in Green River's mission to be Kentucky's outdoor classroom.

Adair Countians Mary Knight and Vonnie Kolbenschlag have planned all kinds of educational activities to help meet that mission.

One was an art contest for Adair and Taylor county second graders. The students were asked to draw scarecrows.

The prizes are gift certificates to Columbia's YogurtTown contributed by Dr. Jacob Burton.

Other children's activities at the festival will include a number of arts and crafts including making homes for mason bees and using a potter's wheel. The Festival also includes many family activities including hay rides, games, vendors, a pioneer re-enactors, story telling, a petting farm and many other activities.

Homeplace is a joint effort of Adair, Green and Taylor counties to restore an early Kentucky farm first settled in 1804. The original home still stands. It is an all-volunteer effort. Homeplace is located at 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, 42718. It is on highway 55 between Columbia and Campbellsville about 1.5 miles south of the Green River bridge.
