Randolph Lewis reports to Mr. Reed

2015-09-09 - ACPC, 151 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Randolph Lewis - and 18 year veteran of the Adair School District Maintenance Department, spoke with Superintendent Alan W. Reed on Labor Day. Moments later, Mr. Reed got word from Mr. Lewis that the decades old boiler in Adair County High School would have to be replaced. Fortunately, because the school maintains a cushion in the general fund, the estimated $60,000 cost of the boiler can be handled as part of regular maintenance on the building. Since Supt. Reed took over direction of the schools, maintenance and improvements have been a hallmark. That it could be done with nothing short of spectacular transformation of the grounds in face of diminished funding AND maintain the best balance sheet in recent history is something of a miracle, which he's quick to credit to a dedicated board: Floyd Burton (Div 4) Chair, Terry Harvey (1), Quin Lasley (2), Lisa Burton (3), and Mike Harris (4). The board meets this morning at 7:30amCT, at the Board Conference Room, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, in an emergency meeting limited to approval of purchase of the boiler and the discussion of a power line trench for the new bus garage the only items on the agenda. - EW
