Mayoral Election decision from Court Appeals expected soon

By Ed Waggener

A decision on contest Columbia Mayoral Election is expected soon. The case is now before Justices P.J. Kramer, Donna Dixon, and Kelly Thompson at the Kentucky Court of Appeals. All procedural motions are complete, as of September 3, 2015, and the next step, the decision itself, is expected at any time now.

The matter is being handled on paper. There is no formal hearing. The three-judge panel's next step will be a decision in Adair Circuit Court, April 17, 2015, in Case #14-CI-00211, which ruled the Nov. 4, 2015 Mayoral Election void and ordered a new election be held.

According to Adair County Clerk Lisa Greer, if Judge Vance's ruling is upheld, and if there are no more appeals, a new election could not be on the Tuesday, November 2, 2015 General Election Ballot. "Those are already at the printer," she said.
