David L. McWhorter, Adair County, KY (1947-2015)

He served two tours in Vietnam, receiving two Purple Heart awards, retiring from the US Marine Corps. He was a native of Clinton County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of he late Larry McWhorter and Martha Lee Willen McWhorter, who survives, as does his wife, Peggy Davies McWhorter. He leaves four direct, and two step living descendants

David L. McWhorter, SGT Maj., USMC Retired, of Columbia, Kentucky, died peacefully with his family by his side at his home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

Memorial services will be Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 12:30pmCT, at his home with VFW Post 6097 presenting full military honors. Cremation has been chosen

David served two tours in Vietnam, receiving two Purple Heart awards, retiring from the US Marine Corps.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret (Nell) Hunt and his brother, Carl McWhorter. Survivors include:
  • His wife: Peggy Davies McWhorter of Columbia, KY

  • His mother: Mary Lee Willen McWhorter of Albany, KY

  • Two daughters: Angela McWhorter, Lee Ann Martin (Britt) all of Hillsboro, NC

  • Step-children: Allie Bryant (Clint), Jeff Ayers (Ashley) all of Cincinnati, OH

  • One brother: Jimmy McWhorter (Diane) of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Olene Wray, Erlene McMackin (Doug) all of Louisville, KY

  • Grandchildren: Jackson & Maisie

  • Several other relatives and friends
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to Hosparus
