(Ad) An Open Letter from Easton Bryant, North Century Pharmacy Hello friends and neighbors, In today's hustle and bustle society with our minds involuntarily starving for the next dose of instant gratification, common sense says to invest your advertising efforts in flashy, catchy elements to promote your product or service. Well, I'm doing quite the opposite here and simply going with my gut in writing a lengthy open letter. If you're still with me and not dozing off from this boring introduction, thank you! I'm not much of a salesman, simple as that. I've never recommended a medication or product based on monetary profitability and I never will. A person's health isn't an arena to make a quick and easy buck - it's much too serious to be used for that. When I invest my own dollars in a new product or service, I typically do so after personally hearing a positive review in conversation with someone I know and trust. Like many of you, I can't stand feeling like I've been suckered into spending my money unwisely. Word of mouth is a great thing, but it's a competitive market out there and simply too tough to rely on that alone. So, with all that said, I'm essentially writing this to let you know we're here and we're here for you. Still with me? Wow...and thank you! Might as well stick it out - here come the meat and potatoes: FILLING PRESCRIPTIONS ISN'T FUN, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A PAIN! I know what some of you are thinking...I'm well aware we're not located on the hottest corner in Columbia (3058 Campbellsville Rd., by the way). Additionally, we're not selling an exciting product for enjoyment or an exhilarating service for entertainment. Nope, we're not going to bring you thrills, but we are here to help you improve/maintain your health and well-being. No doubt about it, this is serious stuff! You only get one body and one life on this earth, and I try my absolute best to not make filling prescriptions a hurdle for my patients.
Let me first say this: If you're currently doing your prescription business at a local establishment and you're completely satisfied with the services you receive and relationships you've made, I'm genuinely happy for you. I'm also happy for those pharmacists, technicians, owners/operators, etc. because I believe supporting local business within our community is very important. Furthermore, if you're now doing business with a "big-box" store and find yourself continuously frustrated, you likely shouldn't take out that frustration on the employees who work there. Trust me, I've been in those shoes. Fact is, it's all about the bottom line at those places because the corporate guys in their three-piece suits are watching their stocks. This too often means the store you visit is operating on a budget that simply won't allow them to keep the staff on hand that's needed to provide you the attention you deserve. Whenever there's an opening, they cut down on staff hours and, in turn, patient satisfaction.
