He was a telephone construction worker and a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. He was a native of Monroe County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Ernest and Delphia Spears Harper. His wife, Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper, survives. He leaves 23 direct living descendants

Harold Phillip Harper, age 74, of Tompkinsville, KY, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Monroe County Medical Center, Tompkinsville, KY.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 1pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Brother Jason Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2015, 3pm-9pmCT, and on Friday after 7amCT until time of services.

Harold Phillip Harper, Monroe Co., KY (1940-2015)

Born September 16, 1940 in Monroe County, KY, he was a son of the late Ernest and Delphia Spears Harper. He died Wednesday, August 19, 2015, in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and three days.

His wife, Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper, survives.

He was a telephone construction worker and a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters: Janetta (Dickie) Kirk, Tompkinsville, KY; Sharon (Gary) McMurtrey, Summer Shade, KY; and Karen (Jimmy) Moore, Marrowbone, KY

  • Three sons: Harold Phillip (Teressa) Harper, Jr., Summer Shade, KY; Ashley (Sarah) Harper, Summer Shade, KY; and Wesley (Angela) Harper, Summer Shade, KY

  • Two sisters, Kathryn (Cecil) Shaw, Livingston, TN; and Linda (Joyal) Hodges, Tompkinsville, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren: Jared Harper, Dustin Kirk, Russ, Emily, and Ty McMurtrey, Jamie Davis, Justin Moore, Travis and Jacob Harper, Hunter Harper, Zach and Abby Harper

  • And five great grandchildren, Nathan and Finn Harper, Samuel Harper, Harper Davis, and Owen McMurtrey.
He was preceded in death besides his parents by three brothers, Otha and Darrell Harper and J D Parks; and two sisters, Lucille Page and Regina Hurt.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
