Adair Extension Service Open House held 14 Aug 2015 By Linda Waggener An Open House for the newly renovated and expanded Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY was held today, Friday, August 14, 2015, from 2pm-5pmCT. The ribbon cutting ceremony was at 2pmCT, and a short program followed at 3:30pmCT. Refreshments catered by Barbara Overstreet were served to a large crowd of well wishers. Sandra Rowlett, chairperson of the Adair county Extension Council, presided over the program. George Payne, vice-chair of the Extension District Board, gave an overview of the remodel and expansion. Remarks were given by Adair County Judge-Executive Michael Stephens; Anna Smith, District 5 Director, UK Cooperative Extension Service; and by Dr. Jimmy Henning, Associate Dean and Director, UK Cooperative Extension Service. Extension District Board Members were recognized. They are: Chairman Terry Partin, Vice Chairman George Payne, Secretary Mary Knight, Treasurer Debbie Cowan, Member Sandra Rowlett, Member Larry Irvin and Member County Judge-Executive Michael Stephens. In the announcement of the event, Nick Roy, County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources, said, "The past year, the County Extension Council, Extension District Board, and Extension staff have worked diligently to provide what will be a strong asset to Adair County. "Not only does the new facility provide the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service with the resources to build upon what was already a great program, but also provides an environment for other organizations within the county to thrive." The Adair County Extension Council includes: Chair Sandra Rowlett, Vice-Chair George Payne, Secretary Jackie Montgomery, and members Paula Bault, Darrell Bunnell, Wendy Burt, Annetta Burton, Crystal Burton, Blake Corbin, Debbie Cowan, Faye Davidson, Jelaine Harlow, Larry Irvin, Barney Janes, Lee Ann Jessie, Shirley Jones, Mary Knight, Mike Loy, Terry Partin, Vince Pfefferman, Jane Reed, Phillip Richard, Matthew Sabo, Donna Simpson, Angie Smith, Sandra Watts and Danny Wilkinson.
