Adair Fiscal Court, Regular Session, August 11, 2015
Court raise taxes by 4% after being given option of compensating, with no overall increase in revenues, or up to 4%.

By Ed Waggener

Adair Fiscal Court voted last night, Tuesday, 11 Aug 2015, to raise the county tax rate by the maximum 4% increase. CJE Michael said that this will mean approximately approximately $39,000 (Corrected by Magistrate, who says actual amount is $33,319) in increased revenues from property taxes in the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Acting on CJE Michael Stephens recommendation, and on a motion by Magistrate Sammy Baker (District 3), with a second by Perry Reeder (4), the other five magistrates, Harold Burton (1), Daryl Flatt (2), Billy Dean Coffey (5), Greg Caldwell (6), and Terry Hadley joined in the affirmative for an 8-0 vote.

The court received tax rates from the following:

- Adair County Public Library District - Lee Ann Jessie, Director, present the compensating tax rate for the library district, meaning that the rates should result in no increase in taxes.

- Adair County Extension Office - Tony Rose presented the services' tax rate; the extension office opted for a compensating rate.

- Adair County Soil & Water Conservation District - Danny Wilkerson presented the district' tax rate; the district office opted for a compensating rate.

- Adair County Public Health District Angie Dye presented the district's tax rate; the district rate will remain the same as it has since 2011.

Each of the tax rates were unanimously accepted with individual votes on each.

Westlake Regional Hospital was on the agenda to present its tax rate. Judge Stephens announced that there rate should be ready later.
