First day of school opens smoothly in Adair Co.; enthusiasm high

Only one snarl: many Adair County Primary Center parents entered by Indian Drive; parents of ACPC students are to enter via Col. Casey Drive off the Columbia Veterans Memorial Bypass, both for drop off and pickup. For traffic patterns at all schools, for drop off and pickup, see: Traffic Patterns at ACMS, ACHS, ACPC, and ACES

By Supt. Alan W. Reed

Just want to let all CM readers know that we no major issues on our first morning bus rides to school. I have spent the entire morning in all of our schools and I have never seen a more motivated group of teachers and support staff! We were all glad to see our students back after the summer break.

Several cars came in the wrong way for student drop-off at Adair County Primary Center (ACPC). The only approach to the school—morning or afternoon, is off the Columbia By-pass and up Col. Wm. Casey Drive. Some chose to turn off Indian Drive and created a traffic jam. Office Atwood will be stationed at the Indian Drive/Col. Wm. Casey Drive intersection mornings and afternoons to prevent traffic snarls in the future.

On behalf of the Board of Education and everyone in our school system, I want to extend a huge thanks for the countless comments regarding our campus improvement projects, some of which are still underway. We are thrilled to know that the community strongly supports us in our efforts to love and care for our campus.

Alan W. Reed, Superintendent
Adair County Schools, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY 42728 270-384-2476
