Cody had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Summersville Baptist Church. He was a Pre-med Student at the University of Kentucky. He was a 2014 graduate of Green County High School. He was a member of the National Honors Society. He raised and trained bird dogs. He loved to fish and hunt.

Cody Puryear, 18, Green County, KY, departed this life Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. Services were at South Summersville Baptist Church, Summersville, KY, at 12pmCT, Friday, July 31, 2015. Visitation was 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, and after 9amCT, Friday at the church. Ministers officiating were Bro. Ashley Shuffett and Bro. Leslie Jewell. Interment In: Green County Memory Garden, Summersville, KY.



Pallbearers were Daniel Judd, Tony VanDyke, Blake Dotson, Johnny Walker, Steve Lewis, and Kenneth Thompson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Milby, Corey Sneed, Thomas Price, Taylor Price, Brad Hall, Gordon Price, and Todd Price.

Cody Puryear was born August 1, 1996 in Hardin County, KY to Otis Wayne Puryear and Wendy Price Puryear. He departed this life Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY, having attained the age of 18 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Cody had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Summersville Baptist Church. He was a Pre-med Student at the University of Kentucky. He was a 2014 graduate of Green County High School. He was a member of the National Honors Society. He raised and trained bird dogs. He loved to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leonard Price, Delmar Puryear and Orbazine Faulkner. He is also preceded in death by his longtime friends and mentors: Dr. Kenneth DeSimone and Dr. Wimbley Royster.

He is survived by the following:
  • His parents: Otis and Wendy Price Puryear

  • One brother: Daniel Judd of Greensburg, KY

  • One sister and brother-in-law: Kasi and Tony VanDyke of Bradfordsville, KY

  • His grandmother: Mrs. Anita Price of Greensburg,KY

  • His special girlfriend: Ashleigh Pollard of Radcliff, KY

  • One niece and nephew: Caleb VanDyke and Lillie Judd

  • Aunts and uncles: Gordon and Robin Price, Todd Price, Phyllis and Louis Brady and the late Ruby Caven

  • Special friends: Blake Dotson, Johnny Walker , Corey Sneed and Gary Surratt

  • His church family

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Kosair Children's Hospital. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY.
