Alvin Hitch, 76, Russell Co., KY; Adair native (1939-2015)

He was a member of a highly respected family. He was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Russell County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Lonza & Vina Pike Hitch. His wife, Joyce Maxine Lee Hitch, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants. He was a former manager of Ben Franklin Store in Columbia and a salesman for Colonial Bread Co. He was a 1958 graduate of Adair County High School. He was a 50 year member of Russell Springs Lodge #941-F & AM.

Alvin Hitch, 76, of Russell Springs, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Russell County Hospital Hospice Unit, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service for Alvin Hitch will be 10amCT, Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Larry Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Sunday, July 10, 2015. Burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, in Columbia, KY.



Alvin Hitch, 76, Russell Co., KY; Adair native (1939-2015)


He was born May 4, 1939, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Lonza & Vina Pike Hitch. He died Friday, July 10, 2015, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 76 years, two months, and six days.

He was a former manager of Ben Franklin Store in Columbia and a salesman for Colonial Bread Co. He was a 50 year member of Russell Springs Lodge #941-F & AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Herbert, Howard, Dempsey, and Johnny Hitch and two sisters, Mary Shepherd, and Lorena Shepherd.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Maxine Lee Hitch, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • A son: Rodney (Belinda) Hitch, Morehead, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Jared Hitch, Lexington, KY; and Trevor Hitch, Morehead, KY

  • Two sisters: Edna Bennett, Birmingham, Alabama; and Callie Clark, Richmond, Virginia
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. These can be made at the funeral home.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
