Bertha Horstman, 59, Adair Co., KY (1955-2015)

She was a native of Covington, KY, and a resident of the Flatwoods Community of Columbia, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Stella Blanche Perry Wilson of Adair County, KY. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Bertha Horstman, 59 years of Columbia, KY - the Flatwoods Community - of Adair County, KY passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:15amCT at her home after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 12pm noon CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Wayne Keith the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Tarters Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

She was born Monday, November 14, 1955 in Covington, Kenton County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Stella Blanche Perry Wilson of Adair County, KY. She died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at her home in the Flatwoods Community, Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 59 years, seven months, and 23 days.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Wilson, Albert Wilson, and Johnny Wilson; and and by one sister, Patricia England.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Donna Jean Hatcher, of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Donald "Buckwheat" Owen Beard II of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Ben Wilson of Greensburg, K

  • Two sisters: Marilyn Baker of Columbia, KY; and Nellie Boone of New Haven, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Tyler Smith, Trevor Smith, Tristen Beard, Taran Beard and Allie Beard

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of friends
