Registered sex offender arrested on child porn charges KSP charges Montgomery County man with possession and distribution of child pornography By Lt. Jeremy Murrell, Public Information Officer KSP Electronic Crime Branch JEFFERSONVILLE, KY — On June 30, 2015, at approximately 6:47pmET, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Daniel R. Whitt, 44, on charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Whitt was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. Whitt is a registered sex offender and the images included prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts. The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Whitt’s residence on June 30, 2015. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing. Whitt is currently charged with 20 counts of possession and four counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. All charges are Class D felonies with each count punishable by one to five years in prison. Whitt was lodged in the Montgomery County Detention Center.
