Turning Lanes: Off KY 55 and from 206 North! As many had hoped for, the turning lanes will be built now, thanks to work of two local citizens with the Kentucky Department of Transportation and the administration of Governor Steve Beshear, and a gift of right of way by local manufacturer Rob Wilkerson By Ed Waggener ColumbiaMagazine.com (c) COLUMBIA, KY (1:01pmCT, Tue 23 May 2015) - Turning lanes will be incorporated into the Stream Straightening project at the intersection of Campbellsville Street/KY 55 and Fairground Street/KY 55, according to information received this morning from Rob Wilkerson and Junior Stotts, following their meeting with Bruce Neeley, District Engineer in the Somerset office of the Kentucky Department of Transportation this morning, Tuesday, June 23, 2015. The turning lanes will be completed concurrently with the construction of the stream straightening project, and, according to Junior Stotts, should not increase the duration of the project. The turning lane from KY 206 onto KY 55 north, is being made possible by a gift of land from Rob Wilkerson. The turning lane off Campbellsville Street onto Fairground Street will be made possible by innovation design work, with the center line for Fairground Street being moved slightly north to accommodate the turning lane. The work is scheduled for completion on July 8, 2015, if the weather cooperates. This story was posted on 2015-06-23 12:41:52
